Its fruit is for eating.Its leaves can be cooked.In particular rural people tend to slap.Fruit is sour and sweet

 

Shin Tawm Pan

Title:Shin Twam Pan

Purpose: this herb uses only for cooking, just add good smell.
This smells like lemon and lime

Ingredients:
Shin Twam Pan ( I will add Photo)
Zinger 1 small spoon
Turmeric 1/4 small spoon
How to make:
Slice zinger and turmeric (photo below)
Cut Shin Twam Pan
Mix all into bawl
Add hot water (500ml)
Wait 5 minutes

Banyan Tree

Title:Botanical Name:Ficus bengalensis, Bar(Nepal)


Purpose
:

The bark is tonic, astringent and cooling. The seeds are also considered as cooling and tonic.

The banyan has many medicinal properties. It is used in Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of several ailments. The bark and leaf buds of the tree are useful in arresting secretion or bleeding. The fruit exercises a soothing effect on the skin and mucous membranes, alleviates swelling ad pain, and serve as a mild purgative. It is also nutritious.

Diarrhoea and dysentery:
The leaf buds of the banyan tree are beneficial in the treatment of chronic diarrhoea and dysentery. The buds should be soaked in water overnight and taken as infusion in the treatment of these diasesae. The latex is also useful in the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery.

Leucorrhoea:
A regular douching of the genital tract with a decoction of the bark of the banyan tree and the fig tree is helpful is helpful in leucorrhoea. A tablespoon each of the powders of the bark of the two trees should be boiled in a litre of water till it is reduced to about half. Douching with the lukewarm decoction will keep the tissues of virginal tract healthy.

Kibes:
Those who do not wear socks and shoes suffer from cracking of heels, a condition known as kibes. The best way to deal with this condition is to fill the cracks with the sap of the banyan tree.

An infusion of the bark is a specific medicine for diabetes. The tender ends of the aerial roots can be taken in obstinate vomiting.

Chamomile

Title:Botanical Name:Matricaria chamomilla,Damini Ful(Nepal)


Purpose
:Chamomile flowers are used in alternative medicine as an anodyne, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, nervine, stomachic, tonic, vasodilatory. The anti-inflammatory properties make it good for rheumatism, arthritis, and other painful swellings. Additional uses in herbal medicine include an antispasmodic for intestinal and menstrual cramps, relieving gas pains, and a very mild but efficient laxative. Milder tea in large doses is given throughout the day for fevers, sore throats, the aches and pains due to colds, flu, and allergies.

Chamomile External Use

An infusion of Chamomile flowers is used as a hair shampoo, especially for fair hair. The flowers are sometimes added to cosmetics as an anti-allergenic agent or made into a salve for use on hemorrhoids and wounds. The dried herb is made into potpourri and herb pillows, and is burned for aromatherapy. Applied externally as a wash or compress for skin inflammations, sunburn, burns, and added to bath for relaxing tired, achy muscles and feet, and softening the skin.

How to make Remedy for stomachache:
-Place one teaspoon of dried chamomile in one cup of boiled water.
-Cover and allow to steep for 15minutes
-Strain liquid and add lemon or honey for taste
-Drink upto 3 cups daily….

Uses:

Extensively used in cosmetics, soaps, detergents, high class perfumes and hair and bath products. Non-toxic, non-irritant, causes dermatitis in some individuals

Chamomile Herb Recipe Ideas

The flowers are edible and quite tasty in salads or made into a refreshing cold or warm beverage.

Relaxing tea: To 1 cup boiling water add 2 tsp. dried flowers. Steep covered for 10 min.

For Bath: Use up to 1 cup fresh or dried herb tied in linen bag. Place in tub with hot water let soak for 10 min. then add cold water to the temp. you like. Do not add soap to bath, as it will coat your skin and not allow the Chamomile to penetrate.

Also for colds or when you feel really bad, try the tea while you’re soaking in the bath

Eating fresh flowers!! In the textbook about herbs, there is no mention about that.  It would be a good experience for tourists to eat fresh flowers in salads.

Calamus

Title:Botanical Name:Acorus calamus ,Bojho(Nepal)


Purpose
:It is valued as a rejuvenator for the brain and nervous system, and as a remedy for digestive disorders.
It is used as an analgesic for the relief of toothache or headache, to cure /prevent a hangover, to treat a cough, as a carminative for colic, to treat diabetes, to reduce bowel pains, to lessen swelling and for constipation, to cure fevers, for asthma and bronchitis, and as sedative. It exhibited a good anti-fungal activity as well.

The roots have a sweet fragrance.Some people chew calamus to remove the smell of tobacco, as a stimulant, to increase their sense of well-being, and as a hallucinogen.Some people apply calamus directly to the skin to treat certain skin diseases.In foods, calamus is used as a spice. (they have been used to flavor candy) and the leaves smell similar to lemon.

Rhododendron

Title:Botanical Name:Aconitum spicatum (Ranunculaceae),Lali Guras(Nepal)


Purpose
:Flowers are used in body ache and throat pain.Roots are also used.taken alone is poisonous, so it is never used alone by the local communities. A paste made from its roots is applied as antipyretic and analgesic after mixing with Terminalia chebula (Combretaceae)

Purpose
:Used in case as a rasayana (rejuvenative) to promote longevity, and traditionally to enhance digestion (dipanapachana), treat constipation (anuloma), reduce fever (jvaraghna), purify the blood (raktaprasadana), reduce cough (kasahara), alleviate asthma (svasahara), strengthen the heart (hrdaya), benefit the eyes (chakshushya), stimulate hair growth (romasanjana), enliven the body (jivaniya), and enhance intellect

Purpose: Morinda citrifolia use to treat fever, dysentery, Abscess, cough and Neuralgia.
For fever and dysentery use dried leaf to boil and drink.
For Abscess pounding fresh leaf apply on skin.
Coughing and Neuralgia eat fruit with salt.
