Celery

Purpose
:

The expressed juice of the plant, particularly the fleshy petioles, is the most effective form of medicine. It can be used for dropsy, rheumatic tendencies, gout, tendencies toward overweight, flatulence, chronic pulmonary catarrh, lack of appetite, and deficiency diseases. it is a strong diuretic which is not to be used when acute kidney problems exist

Celery also promotes the onset of menstruation; take it only in moderate amounts during pregnancy. As a salad vegetable or made into a tea, celery can be helpful also in clearing up skin problems. A decoction of the seeds can be used for bronchitis, rheumatism, and as a sedative for nervousness. A yellowish oil extracted from the root can restore sexual potency impaired by illness.

Treatment of rheumatism, arthritis and gout. Rheumatoid arthritis where there is an associated mental depression. Their diuretic action is involved in rheumatic conditions. Also used as a urinary antiseptic, largely because of the volatile oil apiol.

Infusion: Pour a cup of boiling water onto 1-2 teaspoonfuls of freshly crushed seeds. Leave to infuse for l0-l5 minutes. This should be drunk three times a day.

Decoction: Use 1/2 tsp. seeds with ½ cup of water; boil briefly and strain.

Juice: Take 1 tbsp., two or three times a day, an hour before meals. An electric vegetable juicer makes fresh celery juice easy to extract.

Mixes well with-carrot and apple juice. Due to its high sodium content, use less than you do of the carrots and apples, if blood pressure is high.

Oil. Take 6 to 8 drops in water, two times a day

Jujube

Title:Botanical Name:Zizyphus jujube,Bayar(Nepal)


Purpose
:

The bark is useful in arresting secretion or bleeding. The fruit purifies the blood and aids digestion.

Mental Retardation
Zizyphus is beneficial in the treatment of mental retardation. A handful of the dry fruit is boiled in half a litre of water till it is reduced to half. Sugar or honey can be added to taste and given daily at night before retiring. It increases the functioning of the brain by releasing more glutamic acid into the bloodstream

Colds and Influenza
Zizyphus is useful in preventing frequent attack of colds and influenza. A teaspoon. Of the fresh juice of the fruit can be taken with a pinch of pepper once daily for preventing colds.

Stomach Disorders
The bark can be used for treatment diarrhoea and colic. The infusion of the inner covering of the bark is used as a purgative in constipation.

Piles 
Fresh baked leaves are useful in piles. The leaves are barked by placing them over the covered mouth of vessel with water boiling. The leaves are covered with another plate to prevent steam from escaping. Those baked leaves are pounded with some castor oil. This warm poultice can be applied over the piles. The process should be repeated twice daily for a week.

Mouth Disorders
Infusion of the fresh and tender leaves, mixed with salt is a useful gargle for sore throat, relaxed uvula, inflammation of the mouth, bleeding from gums and cracked tongue due to excessive consumption of sour fruits.

Skin Disorders
A paste of the leaves and twigs can be applied with excellent result over boils, carbuncles and abcesses to promote suppuration. It can also be applied beneficially over painful boils and styes. This paste, mixed with a teaspoon of lime juice can be applied as a poultice in the treatment of scorpion sting. Infusion of its leaves can be applied as a lotion to wash the wounds and other ulcers.

Conjunctivitis
The leaves are valuable in treating conjunctivitis. An infusion of the leaves should be used as an eye lotion.

Hair Disorder
The paste of its leaves applied over the scalp and hair can keep them clean and prevents scalp diseases. It also lenthens the hair besides darkening them.

Purpose
:

Love Apple

Purpose
:

A decoction of the roots is used in the treatment of poisonous snake bites, boils and ulcers, diphtheria and epidemic

A paste of the roots is used as a poultice to treat cuts and wounds. The juice of the roots has been used as an anthelmintic. The roots have shown antibacterial action against Bacillus dysenteriae, B. typhi, B. paratyphi, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, haemolytic streptococci, Meningococci etc. The whole plant is febrifuge.The roots are analgesic, antiphlogistic, antipyretic, antispasmodic, antitussive, depurative, febrifuge and narcotic..It is considered vulnerable plant.

Sandle Tree

Purpose
:

Sandalwood is a relaxant with sensual properties. With a fragrance described as rich, sweet, fragrant yet delicate, woody and warm, sandalwood promotes a feeling of well-being. The oil is used for all types of skin care. It is used in the treatment of bronchitis, depression, laryngitis, leucorrhoea, scars, and stress.

It is credited with alterative, antibacterial, antiseptic, astringent, carminative, diaphoretic, disinfectant, diuretic, expectorant, hemostatic, refrigerant, sedative and stimulant properties.

It is used to cool the body during fevers, sunstroke and heat stroke, to aid in passing of kidney and gall- stones and for infections in the urinary tract. It is also used in acute dermatitis, gonorrhea, urethritis, vaginitis, bronchitis and eye diseases.

Plant pacifies vitiated pitta, burning sensation, headache, hyper prespration, skin disease, psychotic ailments, memory loss, cardio myopathy, ulcer, jaundice, cough and inflammations.

Lemon Grass

Purpose
:

lemongrass has been considered a carminative and insect repellent.Crushed root juice is taken to relieve piles. Root paste applied heals cuts and wounds. Boiled leaf and root juice help in treating diarrhea and dysentery.

Citral, extracted from the oil, is used in flavoring soft drinks in scenting soaps and detergents, as a fragrance in perfumes and cosmetics, and as a mask for disagreeable odors in several industrial products. Citral is also used in the synthesis of ionones used in perfumes and cosmetics.

Mustard

Purpose
:

Rubefacient, irritant, stimulant, diuretic, emetic., pungent, laxative, digestive.

 

 Target:-

This well known spice has its use in medicine as a stimulating external application. The rubefacient action causes a mild irritation to the skin, stimulating the circulation in that area and relieving muscular and skeletal pain. Its stimulating, diaphoretic action can be utilized in the way that Cayenne and Ginger are. For feverishness, colds, and influenza, Mustard may be taken as a tea or ground and sprinkled into a bath. The stimulation of circulation will aid chilblains as well as the conditions already mentioned. An infusion or poultice of Mustard will aid in cases of bronchitis.

Infusion: pour a cup of boiling water onto l teaspoonful of mustard flour and leave to infuse for 5 minutes. This may be drunk three times a day.
Foot bath: make an infusion using 1 tablespoon of bruised seeds to l litre (2 pints) of boiling water.
