Purpose
:

Its oil is used T.B. ulcers.

Barberry

Title:Botanical Name:Berberis aristata, Chutro(Nepal)


Purpose
:

Small injury,hives,for eye infection and eye problems,even for reducing fever.

The roots possess antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. The drug is used as a cholagogue, stomachic, laxative, diaphoretic, antipyretic and antiseptic. It is administered externally for painful eye afflictions and hemorrhoids. The root bark is useful in amenorrhoea.
It has an essential active ingredient, Berberine, which possesses anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It is used in the treatment of leucorrhoea. It is also used in vaginal enema.

Cambium paste is used for rheumatism and pith paste is used for eye problems

Also when boiled in water making it thick soup is consumed

Chiretta

Title:Botanical Name:Swertia Chirayita,Chiraito(Nepal)


Purpose
:
Chirayata is a valuable bitter tonic. It is laxative and an appetizer . It also corrects the disordered process of nutrition and restore the normal fuction of the system.

Fever
Chirayatra is an effective drug for reducing fevers.It is specially beneficial in the treatment of malarial fevers. It is also effective in hysteria and convulsion.

Stomach Disorders
The herb is an excellent drug for strengthening the stomach and promoting its action. It is used in the treatment of dyspepsia and diarrhoea.

Intestinal Worms
Chirayata possesses anthelmintic, that is, worms destroying, properties and is used in killing intestinal worms. An infusion of the herb is taken for this purpose.

General Debility
It serves as an effective tonic in case of general weakness and during convalescence. The infusion of the plant can be taken in doses of 60ml or40 tablespoons twice a day, before meals.
Preparation and Doses: The herb is used in the from of an infusion or tincture.The infusion is prepared in the hot water with aromatics likes cloves and cinnamon. It is generally taken in doses of 15 to 30 ml or 1 to 2 tablespoon.

Other Uses
Hiccups: The root of the plant is useful in checking hiccups and vomitting. It is taken in doses of 0.5 to 2 grams with honey.

Purpose
:

Helps in digestion,It is used in when small injury,when hives,and in areas where swollen or dis-function of bone and many more.

Healing power and curative properties:
The leaves, the bark, the pods and gum of the tree have medicinal virtues. The leaves and the bark are useful in arresting secretion or bleeding. The pods help remove catarrhal matter and phlegm from the bronchial tubes. The gum allays any irritation of the skin and soothes the inflamed membranes of the pharynx, alimentay canal and genito-urinary organs.

Diarrhoea
The various parts of babul tree are useful in diarrhoea of ordinary intensity. A mixture of equal parts of the tender leaves withwhite and black cumin seeds (Zeera) can be administered in doses of 12 grams, thrice daily. An infusion made of the bark of the tree may also be taken thrice daily for the same purpose. The gum used either in decoction or in syrup, is an effective medicine for diarrhoea.

Teeth disorders:

Chewing of fresh bark of this tree daily, helps strengthen loose teeth and arrest any bleeding from the gums. Dirty teeth can be cleaned effectively by brushing them with a powder in which 60 grams of charcoal of babul wood, 24 grams of roasted alum and 12 grams of rock salt have been included.

Eczema
The bark of babul tree is useful in the treatment of eczema. About 25 grams each of this bark and the mango bark should be boilded in about 1 litre of water and the vapours allowed fomenting the affected part. After the fomentation, the affected part should be anointed with ghee.

Tonsilitis
A docoction of the bark, mixed with rock salt, should be used as a gargle in treating tonsilitis.

Conjuctivitis:
The leaves of babul tree are effective in the treatment of conjuctivitis. The leaves, ground to a paste, should be applied on the affected eyes at night, supported by a bandage which should be untied the next morning. This removes pain and redness.

Epiphora:
The leaves are beneficial in treating epiphora that is watering of the eyes, in which tears flow onto the cheeks due to abnormality of the tear drainage system. About 250 grams of leaves should be boiled in one and a quarter litre of water until only a quarter litre of water is left. This should then be filtered and kept in a well-corked bootle. The eye-lids should be painted morning and evening with this liquid.

Leucorrhoea:
The bark of the tree is useful in lercorrhoea. Its decoction should be used as a viginal douche for treating this disorder.

Chamomile

Title:Botanical Name:Matricaria chamomilla,Damini Ful(Nepal)


Purpose
:Chamomile flowers are used in alternative medicine as an anodyne, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, nervine, stomachic, tonic, vasodilatory. The anti-inflammatory properties make it good for rheumatism, arthritis, and other painful swellings. Additional uses in herbal medicine include an antispasmodic for intestinal and menstrual cramps, relieving gas pains, and a very mild but efficient laxative. Milder tea in large doses is given throughout the day for fevers, sore throats, the aches and pains due to colds, flu, and allergies.

Chamomile External Use

An infusion of Chamomile flowers is used as a hair shampoo, especially for fair hair. The flowers are sometimes added to cosmetics as an anti-allergenic agent or made into a salve for use on hemorrhoids and wounds. The dried herb is made into potpourri and herb pillows, and is burned for aromatherapy. Applied externally as a wash or compress for skin inflammations, sunburn, burns, and added to bath for relaxing tired, achy muscles and feet, and softening the skin.

How to make Remedy for stomachache:
-Place one teaspoon of dried chamomile in one cup of boiled water.

Chamomile Herb Recipe Ideas

The flowers are edible and quite tasty in salads or made into a refreshing cold or warm beverage.

Relaxing tea: To 1 cup boiling water add 2 tsp. dried flowers. Steep covered for 10 min.

For Bath: Use up to 1 cup fresh or dried herb tied in linen bag. Place in tub with hot water let soak for 10 min. then add cold water to the temp. you like. Do not add soap to bath, as it will coat your skin and not allow the Chamomile to penetrate.

Also for colds or when you feel really bad, try the tea while you’re soaking in the bath

Purpose
:It is valued as a rejuvenator for the brain and nervous system, and as a remedy for digestive disorders.
It is used as an analgesic for the relief of toothache or headache, to cure /prevent a hangover, to treat a cough, as a carminative for colic, to treat diabetes, to reduce bowel pains, to lessen swelling and for constipation, to cure fevers, for asthma and bronchitis, and as sedative. It exhibited a good anti-fungal activity as well.
