It helps in smooth evacuation. It is an effective purgative and helps in removing toxins and fats from the body, resulting in their reduced absorption.

Belliric Myrobalan

Title:Botanical Name:Terminalia bellirica,Barro(Nepal)


Purpose
:

t is Astringent, Tonic, Expectorant and Laxative. It has lithotriptic, rejuvenative and Antibacterial properties. It is used in coughs and sore throat. Its pulp is used in dropsy, piles and diarrhoea. It is also useful in Leprosy, fever and hair care. It is also used in Oxalic acid and preparation if ink. While using herbal eye drops containing T. bellirica, encouraging results have been obtained in cases of myopia, corneal opacity, pterigium, immature cataract, chronic and acute infective conditions. The fruit possesses myocardial depressive activity.

Long Pepper

Title:Botanical Name:Piper longum,Pipala(Nepal)


Purpose
:

It is aromatic, stomachache, stimulant and carminative. It is good for constipation, gonorrhea, paralysis of the tongue. It is also advised in diarrhea , cholera, scarlatina, Chronic Malaria and Viral hepatitis. Piper Longum is most commonly used to treat respiratory infections, bronchitis, diseases of the spleen, cough, tumors, and asthma. When applied topically, it soothes and relieves muscular pains and inflammation. It is said to be a good rejuvenator. Piper Longum helps stimulate the appetite and it dispels gas from the intestines. An infusion of Piper Longum root is used after birth to induce the expulsion of the placenta.

:

It is Antiperiodic, Antipyretic, Alterative, Diuretic, Anti-inflammatory. It is a contituent of several compound preparations. It is used in fever, urinary disorders, dyspepsia, torpidity of the liver, skin diseases, secondary syphilis, rheumatism, constipation, tuberculosis, leprosy and general debility. It is also used in treatment of rheumatism and jaundice. It is a blood purifier and may be useful in AIDS and other immune diseases also. It is also being proposed for cancer patients before and after chemotherapy.

Marijuauna

Title:Botanical Name:Cannavis Sativa, Bhang or Ganja(Nepal)


Purpose
:

The leaves are beneficial in the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery. Two grams of dried leaves can be taken with sugar and black pepper.
The leaves help in insomnia. They can be administered to induce sleep where opium cannot be used. Charas which is the active principle of hemp, as well as ganja, are effective drugs to introduce deep sleep.
Bhang or hashish is considered useful in digestive disorders like dyspepsia and other bowel complaints. It also acts as an appetizer when taken in small doses.
Charas is of great value in periodical headaches, migraine, acute mania, insanity and delirium, nervous vomiting, nervous exhaustion, convulsions and neuralgia.
The seeds of the plant are not narcotic. Their infusion is useful in gonorrhoea. Bhang or hashish can also be taken in this disorder.
The juice of Nepali hemp removes dandruff and head lice.
A paste of the fresh leaves is the useful in resolving tumours. The powder of the leaves serves as a useful dressing for wounds and sores. Ganja is externally applied to relieve pain in itchy skin diseases.

Radish

Purpose
:

Diuretic, laxative, lothotriptic, antiscorbutic ( a remedy for scurvy) and Appetiser.
Leaf juice is useful for Dysuria ( difficulty of passing urine), closure of urinary passage ( stranguary), acts as stimulant.
Root juice is useful in urinary trouble, piles and stomachache.

Heena

Title:Botanical Name:Lawsonia inermis,Mehndi(Nepal)


Purpose
:

It is Aromatic, antifungal, anti-bacterial, coolant and astringent.
Leaves paste is applied as a prophylactic against skin diseases. The paste of leaves is used in headache, joint pain, sleeplessness, diarrhea, jaundice, heart diseases, fever and burning sensation in feet. Powder is used on boils and burns. Decoction of leaves, if gargle, is useful in sore throat. It is natural hair dye.

Banyan Tree

Title:Botanical Name:Ficus bengalensis, Bar(Nepal)


Purpose
:

The bark is tonic, astringent and cooling. The seeds are also considered as cooling and tonic.

The banyan has many medicinal properties. It is used in Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of several ailments. The bark and leaf buds of the tree are useful in arresting secretion or bleeding. The fruit exercises a soothing effect on the skin and mucous membranes, alleviates swelling ad pain, and serve as a mild purgative. It is also nutritious.

Diarrhoea and dysentery:
The leaf buds of the banyan tree are beneficial in the treatment of chronic diarrhoea and dysentery. The buds should be soaked in water overnight and taken as infusion in the treatment of these diasesae. The latex is also useful in the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery.

A regular douching of the genital tract with a decoction of the bark of the banyan tree and the fig tree is helpful is helpful in leucorrhoea. A tablespoon each of the powders of the bark of the two trees should be boiled in a litre of water till it is reduced to about half. Douching with the lukewarm decoction will keep the tissues of virginal tract healthy.

Asafoetida is useful in the treatment of respiratory disorders like whooping cough, asthma and bronchitis. About 3to6 centigrams of this gum, mixed with 2 teaspoon of honey, a quarter teaspoon of white anion juice and 1 teaspoon of betel leaf juice, taken thrice daily would keep the patient away from such disorders.
